Bio

José A. López-Salcedo (S'98, M'07, SM'16) was born in Barcelona, Spain, in 1978. He received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Telecommunication Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Barcelona, in 2001 and 2007, respectively. From 2001 to 2006 he was a Research Assistant at the Department of Signal Theory and Communications, UPC. He was involved in R+D projects dealing with synchronization techniques for digital receivers, satellite communications and iterative decoding techniques for MIMO wireless systems, both for private industry and public administrations.

In September 2006, he joined the Department of Telecommunication and Systems Engineering at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), as an Assistant Professor, he became Associate Professor in September 2013 and Professor in May 2021. From May 2011 to July 2019, he was the Coordinator of the Telecommunication Engineering studies at UAB.

From February to March 2010, February to April 2011, April to June 2012 and June to July 2013, he was a visiting scholar at the University of California, Irvine, USA, and from July to September 2011, at the Coordinated Science Laboratory (CSL), University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, USA. From August 2014 to January 2015, he was a Scientific Support Officer at the European Commission, DG Joint Research Center, Ispra (Italy).

José A. López-Salcedo is currently serving as Secretary and Treasurer of the Spain Chapter of the IEEE Aerospace and Electronics Systems Society (AESS), elected member of the IEEE Sensor Array and Multichannel (SAM) Technical Committee, member of the IEEE Signal Processing and Computing for Communications (SPCC) Technical Committee, and member of the Editorial Committee of the Korean Institute of Positioning, Navigation and Timing (IPNT).

Research interests

His research interests are in the field of statistical signal processing, focusing on estimation theory, detection theory and applications to wireless communications and Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS).
